What is a Stress Test?

A stress test or better known as a cardiac stress test is a medical examination process where a cardiologist will make the patient run/walk on a treadmill or cycle on a cycling machine in a bid to ensure that the heart of the patient is or can work perfectly even when it is being subjected to stressful conditions.

What is a Stress Test used for?

Our team at Pediatric Cardiology Specialists recommend a stress test to a patient when they show signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease and related heart conditions.

When may my child need a Stress Test?

A cardiac stress test is a common procedure these days preferred by most, if not all, pediatric cardiologists as it is a non-invasive and effective way to ensure that the heart of a child works perfectly even when it is being subjected to stressful situations, such as playtime, exercise, and related outdoor activities.

A stress test is also recommended for children who suffer from or diagnosed with –

  • Irregular heart rate/rhythms
  • High blood pressure
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle fatigue
  • Excessive drowsiness and related issues with the child’s heart
